Su-Kam Brainy Eco 1100: an intelligent solar home inverter built for every Indian home

Not every home needs a three-phase power plant. Most need one clever box on the wall that puts free solar first, protects the battery, and keeps the lights, fans and TV running when the grid goes. That box was the Brainy Eco.

The Brainy Eco 1100 / 12V was our answer to a simple question: how do you bring solar into an ordinary Indian home without making it complicated or expensive? The press at the time called it one of India’s most intelligent solar home UPS — and it earned the name by being clever where it counted.

1 A Solar PCU for the home

The Brainy Eco is a Solar Power Conditioning Unit (PCU) — three machines in one neat box on your wall: a pure sine-wave inverter, a solar charge controller, and a battery charger. It runs your home like a normal inverter, but with one difference: when the sun is up, it prefers free solar energy to run your load and charge the battery, and only falls back to the grid when it has to.

2 Intelligent charge sharing

The cleverest part is how it treats your battery. The Brainy Eco uses intelligent charge sharing, so it never overcharges the battery — it balances solar and grid charging to give the battery exactly what it needs and no more. An overcharged battery is a battery that dies young; by managing the charge intelligently, the Brainy Eco quietly protects the most expensive part of your system and makes it last longer.

A solar inverter is only as good as the battery it looks after. The Brainy Eco was built to protect the battery first — because that is what actually saves you money.

3 Flexible, and safe by design

We built the Brainy Eco to fit real homes, not ideal ones. It works with almost any battery you already own — anything from a small 18 Ah unit up to a large 150 Ah tubular — so you do not have to throw away what you have. And it looks after itself: a built-in MCB trips on a short circuit or overload, and a ‘PV Reverse’ indicator lights up if the solar panels or battery are connected the wrong way round, so a wiring mistake does not become an expensive one.

  • Pure sine-wave output
  • Inbuilt solar charge controller
  • Any battery from 18 to 150 Ah
  • Built-in MCB protection
  • PV-reverse warning indicator
  • Solar-priority charging

4 One source at a time — solar first

The Brainy Eco is designed to use one source at a time — either solar or the grid — and it always gives solar the priority. While the sun is shining, your home runs on the panels and the battery tops up for free; the grid only steps in when solar cannot meet the need. Every unit the sun provides is a unit you do not buy. It is the same solar-first thinking that runs all the way up our range, from this little home box to the big three-phase Colossal Solar PCUs and the Intelli S online UPS.

5 One model in a whole family

The 1100 / 12V is the popular single-battery model, but the Brainy Eco came as a full family, so almost any home could find the right size:

750VA
900VA
1100VA · 12V
1600VA · 24V

6 A note from me

For all the big three-phase machines we built, products like the Brainy Eco are the ones closest to my heart, because they took solar out of the realm of factories and engineers and put it into an ordinary family’s home. That was always the point of being the Solar Man of India — not just the biggest installations, but green, affordable power for every home that wanted it.

Solar power for every home — clever enough to protect your battery, simple enough for any house. That was the whole idea of the Brainy Eco. — Kunwer Sachdev
