Author name: Kunwer Sachdev

I'm Kunwer Sachdev — known as The Inverter Man of India.I started Su-Kam Power Systems in 1988 with ₹10,000 and a soldering iron. Over three decades I built it into India's #1 power-backup brand — 5,000 employees, operations in 90+ countries, 70+ patents in power and solar electronics. In 2006 my team designed India's first 3-phase solar PCU; it was featured in Discovery Channel's Sun Fuel documentary. Then I lost it.I learned more from losing the company than I did from building it. That's not something I would have said five years ago.Today I'm building three things.Kunwwer.AI — an AI co-pilot for Indian founders. We ship modules for the operational work that drains early-stage companies: Legal Shield, Marketing Engine, Export Hub.Angel investing — I write ₹10L–₹1Cr cheques into AI and deep-tech startups led by India-first founders. I care most about operating discipline.Mentoring at Su-vastika — a next-gen power solutions company taking on what Su-Kam couldn't.I read, write, and speak about scaling industrial businesses out of India, founder resilience, going from 0 to 1 in deep tech, and what it actually takes to survive a hardware company at scale.Based in Gurugram. Available for mentorship, investment, and the occasional speaking engagement.

A New Beginning With Inverters — How a Rude Technician and Exploding MOSFETs Built Su-Kam (Part 2)

In 1998, a rude service technician told Kunwer Sachdev he wouldn’t understand inverter technology. That insult sparked two years of R&D, exploding MOSFETs, and the birth of India’s first MOSFET-based single-battery inverter. Featuring original photos of the first Su-Kam inverter, the Times of India ‘Digital Wonders’ article, and the R&D lab where it all happened.

How We Built India’s First Solar Online UPS at Su-Kam — Making Double-Conversion Online UPS Energy Efficient

The untold story of how Su-Kam Power Systems solved the biggest problem with transformer-based Online UPS systems — their massive power consumption. In 2015, we integrated an MPPT solar charge controller that bypasses the main charger, making the double-conversion Online UPS energy efficient without sacrificing the galvanic isolation Indian power conditions demand. Includes real R&D thermal test data and 84.28% efficiency results.
