IT Voice reported that Su-Kam Power Systems Ltd, India’s leading power backup solutions provider at the time, had installed a 50 KW grid-tie solar system for Delhi Jal Board in Jhandewala, Karol Bagh — the contract awarded after Su-Kam won a competitive tender from the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (DSIIDC).
What was built
The plant comprised two 25 KW grid-tie inverters and 200 photovoltaic modules rated at 250 W each. Over a full year, the installation generates roughly 90,000 units of electricity, saving Delhi Jal Board about ₹7,20,000 in electricity bills annually — a project that pays back in a handful of years and continues producing clean power for a quarter century.
Institutional track record
By 2015, Su-Kam had completed solar projects across the country ranging from a few kilowatts to a full megawatt — including Assam Rifles, Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency (TEDA), CREST, and Engineers India Limited (EIL). The company held a 20.6% share of India’s residential solar segment and was exporting solar products across Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Pacific.
