Su-Kam opens its first exclusive ‘Power Shoppee’ in Kampala — the company’s first-ever branded product experience centre in Uganda, with five more planned across the country.

IT Voice reported that Su-Kam Power Systems Ltd had opened its first exclusive product experience centre — branded ‘Power Shoppee’ — in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. The launch was part of Su-Kam’s retail expansion across the African continent, aiming to widen the brand’s reach directly with end customers.
Five more Power Shoppees planned
Su-Kam announced that five additional Power Shoppees would follow within three months, in Jinja, Kampala, Mbala, Arua and Gulu — anchoring the company’s presence across Uganda’s major towns and its channel of dealer partners on the ground.
Early mover into Uganda
Su-Kam was among the first Indian power backup brands to enter Uganda, introducing inverter and UPS ranges tailored to local grid conditions. By 2013 the company already held a robust market share and was rolling out solar-hybrid solutions built for markets with unreliable grids.
The ‘Brainy’ hybrid UPS
The launch coincided with the roll-out of Su-Kam’s Brainy — described in the article as ‘the world’s first hybrid UPS’. Brainy allowed the same UPS to charge from both solar and grid, defaulting to solar — a design specifically valuable for Uganda’s daily power cuts. Su-Kam also ran regular dealer meets across Africa and sponsored sports events in Uganda, Malawi, Nigeria and Senegal.
“We are very pleased to launch our first ever Power Shoppee in Uganda. This shall bring us closer to our customers in the country. We also aim to bring highly advanced solar products by means of which customers can convert their existing inverters into solar inverters.”
