31 January 2018: Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar chairs the first meeting of the newly formed Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA). Its founding member panel includes Kunwer Sachdev alongside DLF’s Rajiv Singh, Medanta’s Dr Naresh Trehan and MakeMyTrip’s Deep Kalra.
The Times of India reports the formation of the Gurgaon Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) on 31 January 2018 — the body created to bring all of Gurgaon’s infrastructure projects under a single roof. The first meeting is chaired by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar.
Who is on the panel
The founding members TOI names include Rajiv Singh of DLF, Dr Naresh Trehan of Medanta Hospital, Deep Kalra of MakeMyTrip, and Kunwer Sachdev, CMD of Su-Kam — a deliberately mixed panel across real estate, healthcare, digital consumer, and industrial manufacturing.
What GMDA was set up to do
The Authority was designed to consolidate control of Gurgaon’s infrastructure projects under one civic body — roads, drainage, public transport, waste management, city services — giving Gurgaon a single point of coordination for the growth it was already living through.

Why Sachdev was chosen
For a body meant to industrialise the city’s infrastructure planning, Sachdev added a specific voice: an industrial manufacturer who had built factories in and around Gurgaon, employed thousands locally, and understood on-the-ground energy, logistics and last-mile bottlenecks.
