Kunwer Sachdev, founder of Su-Kam Power Systems, writes for the Times of India blog platform in his own voice. The column is his one direct-to-reader channel — industry commentary, personal anecdote, and forward-looking argument, sitting on the same masthead as most of the coverage that has been written about him.

Why the column exists

Founded in 1998, Su-Kam turned inverter into a household name. That gave Sachdev an operator’s vantage point on India’s power and renewable-energy story — and TOI’s blog gave him a place to write from that vantage point without going through a reporter. The result: essays that pair industry knowledge with the kind of on-the-ground detail journalists rarely have access to.

The themes he keeps coming back to

Across posts, Sachdev returns to a consistent set of ideas: the economics of solar are already flipping, energy backup is a design problem before it is a manufacturing problem, retrofit beats rip-and-replace for Indian buyers, and the country’s renewable ambition needs a single, unified clearance process instead of three departments. Each piece is written for a reader who wants the argument, not the jargon.

“An idea is bigger than a degree — and reliability is bigger than a spec sheet.”— Kunwer Sachdev, Founder Su-Kam • recurring theme, Times of India blogs

Su-Kam, Su-vastika — and what he writes next

After Su-Kam’s corporate exit in 2019, Sachdev extended the same conversation into battery storage and the mentoring of Su-vastika Systems. That is now the subject of much of his recent writing — lithium chemistries, cell-level battery testing, safety of LFP over NMC, and how Indian manufacturers can win the storage decade the way they won the inverter one.
