In 2011, Electronics for You — India’s oldest electronics magazine — honoured Kunwer Sachdev with its Entrepreneur of the Year Award for building Su-Kam Power Systems into the country’s largest inverter company.

Electronics for You (EFY) — the Indian technology magazine founded in 1969 — named Kunwer Sachdev its Entrepreneur of the Year in 2011. The award recognised more than a decade of work building Su-Kam Power Systems from a small Delhi workshop into India’s largest inverter and power-solutions company, with exports across dozens of countries.
Why the recognition
By 2011, Su-Kam had become the market leader in Indian home inverters and was aggressively expanding into solar power systems. Sachdev had also emerged as one of the most prolific patent filers in the Indian electronics sector — a combination of manufacturing depth, product design and R&D that EFY singled out as the model for the next generation of Indian hardware entrepreneurs.
A signal to the industry
Electronics for You’s Entrepreneur of the Year is one of the most respected honours in Indian electronics manufacturing. The 2011 award placed Sachdev alongside a small group of founders who have shaped the country’s hardware landscape — from consumer electronics to industrial power systems.
“This award belongs to every engineer, every technician and every person who built Su-Kam alongside me. Indian hardware can win globally — if we back it.”
